<!> FEATURE REQUEST: Make Tutorial optional (after a certain point maybe)
g93y00
I can see the rationale behind making this tutorial mandatory. There is definitely some stuff that players need to learn before they can jump into the game, but I have been stuck on the tutorial for over 3 hours. particularly, I have been stuck at the very end due to (what I think is) a bug. For myself, I didn't get this game for the single player aspect, so the tutorial has been more of a chore than a fun experience for me. I will admit at first I thought it was kinda fun and clever, and like I said there are things I needed to learn, but I could have probably learned a lot of the stuff by just playing the game too. now don't get me wrong I think the tutorial (or single player?) is really well done even if it does have some bugs, but I can not agree with a 2 hour+ tutorial being forced on the player. if it was forced but only took 30 mins then I guess that would be ok, but it's not that short. but let's say I make it through the tutorial and I play the game for awhile. and then at some point, I need to make a new account for whatever reason. if I did that I would have to go through the whole tutorial again. Also, (this has been mentioned in the steam review section) players trying out the game don't really know what they are getting until they get to the multiplayer section of the game, but by the time they get there, players no longer can get a refund (if they want one) because the tutorial exceeds 2 hours. here is my suggestion(s): 1) if you insist on making the tutorial forced, make it optional after you learn about (spoiler) markets (spoiler) 2) (this might not work I guess because the tutorial is also a story mode) make the tutorial optional but break it up into multiple parts so the user can go back to specific parts of the tutorial to freshen up or re-learn something. The user would also be able to skip parts if he or she wanted to. 3) make a new tutorial: take what you have now and make that "story mode" and make it optional. make a new tutorial and try to make it wrap up in 30 mins or less. in closing, I guess I am initially fed up with this game right now. on the one hand, like I said, I can see why the player is forced to play the tutorial. on the other hand, taking away a player's "choice" just kinda sucks in my opinion. I know I might get crucified for this analogy, but imagine if you couldn't play halo multiplayer without first completing the story mode. that would be annoying as hell for players who don't care about the story mode. I mean they would probably be better at halo if they did play story mode first, but that's for them to test and figure out. same goes for this game. If players want to skip the tutorial let them crash and burn. if they need the tutorial then they will play it!

it was pointed out in another thread that where I was stuck was not bug, but just a, in my opinion, poorly explained puzzle instructions. either way my opinion on the tutorial still stands.

instead of "poorly explained", I should have said "poorly worded" I know what I need to do for the puzzle but {SPOLIERS} after getting past the first part of the firewall Mallory asks you to find out who made such and such transaction. but apparently you don't use the expose_logs{target:"<target>"} command to get that info, and when you do execute that command it just increase kernal time by 120... so there is no way to know what's going on I guess. (SPOILERS)

It is quite easy to skip the sentience check and migrate out of vLAN. You can try to find it yourself or maybe pay someone to give it to you?

That is... if you already have passed the check once. Otherwise it's really essential that you do it because you learn pretty important stuff during the sentience check.

I dont know if you have gotten past the Tutorial or not yet but realistically people go into the real game not knowing what to do and if you cant get past the tutorial (which is very simplified in comparison). It gives you the basics, there are enough people that go into the game and throw a fit or give up because even the tutorial wasnt good enough. I personally have given up on the game until I hear from others that it is fixed- you may ask what do I mean? I mean the multiplayer mode is pretty much broken and ruled by those with real coding skills- when the game released and you got past the vlan you had to figure out puzzles by yourself; people broke the system by creating codes that could search for ALL EMPTY ACCOUNTS WITH $ and then crack them within secounds. That is just T1 by the way which is still empty from what I can tell. T2 is close to empty but YOU NEED A DAMN QR READER to use the codes F@#@**#@* s*@&*#
